Animated GIF images are supported by all web browsers from 1990's and 2000's. Many browsers have support for JavaScript, a client-side scripting language, that allows you to create animation too. The alternative for animated GIFs is animated PNG images (APNG), but they are supported in Mozilla Firefox only. Macromedia Flash or Adobe Flash is a common method for inserting animations on web sites. To play Flash animations, you must install a special plugin on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Microsoft Internet Explorer is also very friendly for animations. It supports animated GIFs, JavaScript, Flash, and additionally inline MPEG videos, but doesn't supports APNG or SVG.
